Why the Frame Matters

A print changes when it is framed. It stops being only an image and becomes an object for the room. The paper, glass and frame decide how close the work feels, how much presence it has and whether it can quietly stay in a home for years.
For the framed edition, I think about the artwork and the frame together. The goal is not to make the frame disappear. The frame should support the image, hold it with the right amount of weight and make the piece feel ready for the wall.
The prints are produced on Hahnemühle Albrecht Dürer, 210 gsm. I chose this direction because the surface feels tactile and painterly. It supports colour without making the work look glossy or distant.
The frames come from Mende Frames in Schönewalde. This matters because the object should stay close to the place behind the work. Aila Kischka is rooted in the Spreewald, and the production chain should reflect that whenever possible.
I want each piece to arrive as something complete: not just a motif, but a small wall object with warmth, material presence and a clear sense of origin.
